GRAND WINE AWARDS

The Arizona Republic and the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa present the Grand Awards Ceremony & Reception the “Academy Awards” of Arizona wines. The evening will also feature vibrant music, lively art displays and entertainment, paired with delicious culinary and libation sampling from local chefs and Arizona wines.
Rub elbows with nearly all of the Arizona wine makers, and taste wine varietals from around the State. A limited number of tickets will be available to the public for this exclusive event and experience. In 2019, the Arizona Wine Growers Association, SAACA and the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa, and the Kierland Masters Association to merge experiences with the annual POP Charity Night. Over 100 winners will be announced throughout the evening in partnership with the Arizona Republic.

AWARD CEREMONY HOSTS
Christina Barrueta is a freelance food, beverage and travel writer based in Phoenix, Arizona, and author of Arizona Wine: A History of Perseverance and Passion. She was a regular contributor to the state’s premier wine magazine, Arizona Vines and Wines, later AZ Wine Lifestyle for seven years, and is an avid supporter of the gifted men and women who are forging their paths in Arizona’s thriving wine industry. In 2016, she was inducted into the Arizona Culinary Hall of Fame, and in 2018, she was awarded a Foodist Award for Best of the Best Food Writer. In 2019, she was awarded Most Influential in Valley Food by Arizona Foothills magazine, and her website, WriteOnRubee.com, is a two-time winner of Best Local Food Website. She is currently working on Phoenix Cooks, a cookbook featuring 50 of Phoenix’s favorite chefs and restaurants, to be published in the fall of 2020.
